As urbanization accelerates, natural green spaces are increasingly being replaced by concrete and steel, causing children to become more disconnected from nature. This situation has raised concern as people begin to realize the importance of the natural environment for children's healthy development. In his book Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder, Richard Louv coined the term "Nature-Deficit Disorder." This term refers to the problems that arise when children lack opportunities to interact with nature, leading to issues in academic performance, development, and behavior. As this problem becomes more severe, it is crucial that we take action to provide children with more natural experiences and learning opportunities to ensure their healthy growth.

In this large outdoor space, we interpret our design concept through the lens of "The Life of a Tree," divided into four distinct zones:

  • “Germination” Zone: This area focuses on the process of seed germination, telling the story of how seeds are dispersed, take root, and sprout. We will set up numerous interactive experiences designed for younger children, allowing them to explore and engage with nature in a playful and educational way.

  • “Flourish” Zone: In this area, BMO creates a lush environment under a canopy of trees, offering various forms of nature-related play activities. These activities are designed to highlight the coexistence of humans and trees, making it an ideal space for families with children of all ages to enjoy together.

  • “Withering” Zone: This zone demonstrates the natural state of trees after they die. Using dead tree stumps and rocks, we create a climbing experience space, giving children the opportunity to explore and enjoy adventurous activities while learning about the life cycle of trees.

  • “Rebirth” Zone: In this area, BMO expresses the concept of trees being reborn after going through the cycle of life and death, creating a visually stunning landscape that symbolizes the renewal of life. This space is designed to inspire visitors and offer both aesthetic enjoyment and spiritual reflection.

Through these designs, we aim not only to provide children with rich, immersive nature experiences but also to create interactive spaces for families that blend education with entertainment, fostering a deeper connection between people and the natural environment.
